Xerokambos or Xerokabos is a completely isolated village at the eastern part of Crete. The place is approachable from Ziros plateau by a winding breathtaking road through roughed, rocky mountains.
It is also approachable from Zakros by an eight kilometer new asphalt road through olive tree fields.
Xerokambos is unique for its golden sanded beaches along with crystal clear water of the sea. Lots of little isolated beaches are all along the coast line as well as big sandy ones.
There are few houses for rent but there are a lot under construction in the area. There are also some good taverns on which you can enjoy local delicacies and fresh fish.
You can hardly name village, Xerokambos because houses are too far apart each other. This fact is giving you the opportunity for long walks by the sea or if you are interesting on trekking, hike in the Agia Irini gorge. People from Zakros use to go from old ages till now in the near by Xerokambos seaside to collect salt from natural salterns. In Xerokambos you will not find any night life.
There are also interesting archaeological sites of the Hellenic period. Xerokambos is the proper place for relaxation, tranquility, swimming and lazing on the beach.
